Export Specialization Training for International Students from MEVKA
Mevlana Development Agency, continuing its work in the TR-52 Konya-Karaman Region under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology General Directorate of Development Agencies, organized “Export Specialist Training” for foreign students studying at universities in Konya, in cooperation with İki Doğu İki Batı International Student Association.
The trainings, conducted by Prof. Dr. Murat Canıtez, Head of the Department of International Trade and Logistics at KTO Karatay Üniversitesi, at İki Doğu İki Batı International Student Association, lasted a total of 32 hours over 4 weekends.
Foreign students who successfully completed the trainings were awarded Foreign Trade Specialist certificates.
Evaluating the training program they organized as an Agency, Mevlana Development Agency Secretary General Dr. İhsan Bostancı said, “As Mevlana Development Agencies, while implementing various support mechanisms in the regions we are responsible for, we also strive to contribute to the improvement of areas needed by firms operating in our region for international competition and to the development of our region's human resources. In today's world, where the concept of export, one of the cornerstones of sustainable development, plays a fundamental role in the economic development of countries, training equipped human resources to carry out these operations is equally important. When we look at our city, which exports 3.36 Billion Dollars to more than 180 countries with over 3 thousand exporting firms, we had identified from our fieldwork that our firms greatly need foreign trade specialists who can fulfill the requirements of international trade, speak several world languages simultaneously, and acquire new markets and new customers. At this very point, international students who come from various countries to study at universities in our city became our focal point due to both their connections in their home countries and the several foreign languages they speak. We see these students, to whom we are connected by various ties, both as a richness of our country and as voluntary ambassadors between their home countries and our country. While some of these students return to their countries after completing their education, some join the workforce in our country and constitute a great potential in terms of trained human resources with the skills they possess. As Mevlana Development Agency, based on this, in cooperation with İki Doğu İki Batı International Student Association, we aimed for these students to be able to work in the foreign trade units of exporting firms operating in our city with the Export Specialist Training Program we organized for foreign students studying at universities in Konya. Within the framework of the organized training program, 25 international students received a total of 8 days and 32 hours of foreign trade training, 4 hours each over 4 weekends. During the trainings, participants were practically taught topics such as the definition and scope of international e-commerce, types of international e-commerce, conducting foreign trade transactions, company types and their advantages, export marketing and process, commercial information sources, methods and techniques for finding commercial information, commercial intelligence, export market research and finding customers, payment methods and practices in foreign trade, documents used in export and import and how to fill them, customs legislation, logistics in export and import, and all processes of international trade. As an Agency, stating that our support for projects that will contribute to the areas needed by our stakeholders in our region and to the all-round development of our region will continue to increase, I thank İki Doğu İki Batı International Student Association and KTO Karatay Üniversitesi Continuous Education Center for their valuable cooperation, and I wish the trainings to be beneficial for our students, our city, and our region.”
