Evaluating the study conducted by the Agency, Mevlana Development Agency Secretary General Dr. İhsan Bostancı said, “Development agencies, working with the understanding that 'development starts locally' to contribute to the all-round development of their responsible regions, are development units that bring together public, private sector, and civil society organizations, and act as supporters, coordinators, and catalysts. As Mevlana Development Agency, under the leadership of our board of directors and in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Technology General Directorate of Development Agencies, we continue our efforts to guide the development of our region and contribute to this development process through financial and technical support programs for businesses, public institutions, and civil society organizations in Konya-Karaman provinces, as well as reports we prepare on various subjects. In this direction, our Agency has provided approximately 3 Billion TL support at 2024 prices to about 1600 financial and technical support projects since our establishment, mobilizing an investment of 5.5 Billion TL in our region with co-financing. Our support for the defense industry sector, like all other sectors in our region, and our efforts in this field have continued since our establishment. In this regard, our Agency has provided 210 Million TL support to 57 projects to date to increase the capacities of companies operating in the defense industry sector in our region and to develop domestic and national defense industry products, mobilizing an investment of 420 Million TL with beneficiary co-financing. Finally, a comprehensive field study was conducted by our Agency in coordination with STM-Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. for 40 companies operating in the defense industry sector in our region or having the potential to produce in this field. The supply chain managers of ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Inc. also made significant contributions to these field studies. With this study led by our Agency, we aimed to contribute to the development of the defense industry in the region, to identify, support, and guide the capabilities and talents of our ecosystem and companies, to increase exports through new talents and competencies to be gained by our companies by fulfilling defense industry requirements, to reveal higher value-added products and technologies that our companies can produce with their production infrastructure, products/technologies, and talents in their respective sectors, and to ensure that a defense industry actor like STM, which has achieved the success of being among the world's top 100 defense companies, communicates with our ecosystem and evaluates potential future cooperation opportunities. As a result of long field studies, the companies were virtually x-rayed, and their existing infrastructure, what they could produce with new investments, and their capabilities were reported on a company basis. As a result of these studies, with the guidance of our Agency, the number of companies entering the Capability Inventory (YETEN), which is the first step for businesses wishing to do business with the Presidency of Defense Industries and its affiliated organizations, increased from 60 to 108; the number of companies in the region with Presidency of Defense Industries Industrial Competence Assessment and Support Program (EYDEP) certification increased from 10 to 20; ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Inc.'s supplier rate from Konya-Karaman province reached 37% from 7%; and very valuable outputs were obtained for our region and country, such as increased participation in cluster organizations like Holistic Security, Health and Technology Cluster - BÜSAT and SAHA Istanbul. In addition, the 40 company, 2 provincial, and 1 regional reports prepared were shared with main industry companies in the defense industry field, and our efforts to establish new collaborations between these companies and companies in our region are ongoing. Stating that our efforts for the defense industry sector, which is of strategic importance for both our region and our country and has positive contributions to many sectors, will continue increasingly, I thank Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. primarily for their great contribution to the realization of these field studies, as well as Konya Chamber of Commerce, Konya Chamber of Industry, Karaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Beyşehir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Presidency of Defense Industries Konya Provincial Representative Office, ASELSAN Konya Weapon Systems Inc., and Konya Technology Industrial Zone, and I wish the prepared reports and conducted studies to be beneficial for our companies, ecosystem, region, and country.”
